A mechanical engineering background but not licensed. Designing residential structures to hold extreme loads due to snow or high wind loads. Designing marine watercraft transport barges,
crane barges, fire barges, landing crafts, and specialized equipment such as semi-trailers, small trailers, and off-road equipment. Specialized storage solutions such as modified shipping containers and other buildings.

Skills and Abilities

Heavy equipment operations from loaders, excavators, graders, backhoes, dozers, cranes, telehandlers, forklifts, and water trucks. Soil composition, compaction, earth moving, and land development.
Carpentry from framing to finish.
Building remote access cabins that are off-grid and only accessible by land or water.

Metal Fabrication

Welding, cutting, bending, designing, and working with materials ranging from steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Operations of equipment shears, bandsaws, welders, punches, and notchers, CNC equipment such as plasma tables and press brakes.

Professional Rigger

Moving heavy or oversized objects through small spaces with lots of obstacles and challenging terrain or restrictions, via water or by land.

Commercial Pilot

The operation of single-engine aircraft, specializing in mountain flying, off airport landings, and backcountry airstrips. The commercial operation of dispersing cremations or other products by aircraft.

Operations of 3D printing

The design and creation of parts and products from plastic and printed metals for general purposes in aviation.

Instructor and Teacher

Trailer operations for heavy transport, recreational use, safe driving and operating, maintenance and proper care.
Work crane barge safety, operations, maintenance and proper care.

Welding 101

Chad teaches the understanding and beginner operations of mig welding.

About Lorna

Lorna has been an organic gardener for over 25 years and is currently producing 95% of her household’s produce.

Lorna’s credentials include:

17 years as an office and project manager for a civil engineer.
A property parcel map specialist for the county assessor’s office.
Currently working a full-time job in watershed management and natural resources as well as serving as a Board Clerk for a watershed authority.
Aside from sustainable living, her hobbies have included decades of snowboarding, whitewater river rafting and she is currently a private pilot working on her instrument rating.
Lorna enjoys traveling with her husband Chad and coming home to an abundant ranch and garden.
